The Eau Claire, Wis.-native holds down 23rd place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings
Paul Menard on Chicagoland Speedway: "Chicagoland Speedway is a unique track, but I think it most resembles a Las Vegas or a Kansas Speedway. You really have to pull bits and pieces of information from a couple of different tracks that we go to for use in Chicago. We've got a really good mile and a half program, so barring any unforeseen circumstances, I think this should be a pretty good weekend for our Menards team."
Crew Chief Slugger Labbe's Thoughts on Joliet: "It's a mile and a half track and I think our mile and a half program is, by far, the strongest part of our program right now, so I'm really excited about what we should be able to do this weekend.
"One of the biggest issues that we'll have at Chicagoland Speedway is that all of the practice is during the day and we race in the evening. We're going there prepared to fight a loose handling condition. That's how we anticipate the track will go as the sun goes down and it gets cooler during the course of the race. I'd call it a limited impound race, and heck, it's all but a one day show. We'll practice a couple of times on Friday and then qualify that night, but we'll not get another chance to get on the track after that."
Chassis History: Crew chief Slugger Labbe and the No. 98 RPM crew have prepared chassis No. 566 for this weekend's event at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill. The team utilized this particular Ford Fusion earlier this season at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. Menard also drove it during a test at Atlanta Motor Speedway in June.
Notes: Menard will spend Thursday afternoon visiting with the folks from Schrock, who are featured on the hood of the No. 98 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford several times throughout the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Following that appearance, Menard will stop in at the Joliet, Ill. Menards store to meet fans and sign autographs beginning at 6:30 p.m. local time.
Hauler driver Bill Peters has earned his way into the top 16 of the Freightliner Trucks Run Smart Hauler Challenge that will take place on Thursday afternoon at Chicagoland Speedway. This is the third round of competition and will narrow the field down to eight competitors for the final round.
Menard continues his double-duty efforts this weekend. Menard, who is racing full-time in both the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series will pilot a No. 98 Ford in Friday's Nationwide race. He currently holds down sixth place in the driver point standings.
