JEFF BURTON - No. 99 Citgo Taurus (finished 6th)

"It was a pretty good day for us. We were good yesterday morning and we lost a little bit and we weren't as good in the afternoon, and just kind of went back to what we had, and the car drove pretty good, but not as good as we needed to be. But we're making gains, and feel good about where this team is headed. The second half of the year looks pretty promising to me."

IT LOOKED LIKE A GRUELING DAY.

"That's a fast race track. Physically, it's pretty demanding, it's a lot of G-forces for a long time. It's pretty warm today, pretty demanding race. But, that's why we work out and stay in shape."

WERE YOU CLOSE TO ANY OF THOSE WRECKS?

"Not really. The last time when we put on tires we made some adjustments, and we were just really loose and I about wrecked it four or five times. And, I just had to slow down. Then all those crashes there played into our favor because all of those cautions at the end we really got tight, so had we not started out that loose we would've really been in trouble."

ELLIOTT SADLER - No. 38 M&M's Taurus (finished 9th)

"We struggled all day long. We were tight, we were loose, we were tight, we were loose, and just could never get the front downforce we needed on the front of our M&M's Ford Groovy Summer Car today. Just struggled a lot. But, to come out with a top-10, we're very, very happy with it for the struggling we did. Our pit stops were awesome, but I think the reason we finished the way we did was qualifying. It all goes back to Friday, track position is so important here, so I really commend my guys on great qualifying efforts this year and that's a big reason why we were a top-10 today."

WERE YOU CLOSE TO GETTING CAUGHT UP IN ANY OF THE WRECKS?

"Yeah, the big one going into turn three. I hope Bobby Labonte is okay. I saw a big fire coming out of his car, so hopefully he's okay and as is everybody else who was involved in wrecks. I was pretty close to that one, but we were able to manage to go through it."

MATT KENSETH - No. 17 DeWalt Power Tools Taurus (finished 12th)

"We all tried really hard, we just made poor decisions. I started making them, got the wrong tires on the car and just the way the pits stops worked out and everything, just got us so far behind we could just never come back from it.

MORE ON THE RACE.

"It was just a frustrating day. We were real lucky to get a 12th-place finish out of it. I'm just going to be happy that we salvaged a terrible day with a decent finish and go on to next week and try to do better."

STILL, YOU REMAIN THE POINTS LEADER.

"To mess up as many things as we messed up and finish 12th is a great job, so I'm real proud of all the DeWalt guys, the guys at Roush Racing that give us this reliable equipment and we needed to be there at the end and we were. We didn't run good, and I'm real ashamed of the way we ran and the things we did today, but I'm excited that we still got a good finish out of it."

RICKY RUDD - No. 21 Motorcraft Taurus (finished 13th)

"We started off way too loose - way too loose. I didn't know if it would be fixable or not. They kept making adjustments, but being loose is what killed us that first time. We got a lap down real fast, we lost a lap real early. And then after that we were okay. We ended up 13th. We were probably a 10th-to-13th-place car, something like that."

TODD BODINE - No. 54 National Guard Taurus (finished 33rd) - WHAT PUT YOU OUT?

"Transmission. In that wreck with Bobby and them down there, Sterling and myself went low, and when I shifted into third it just felt like a grinder. Something exploded in the transmission. Third gear went out of it, so it finally quit running."

THERE WERE A NUMBER OF SERIOUS WRECKS TODAY. WERE YOU CLOSE TO ANY OF THE OTHER ONES?

"Not really. We were pretty clean all day."

KURT BUSCH - No. 97 Irwin/Lenox/Rubbermaid Taurus (finished 39th)

"We just had a valve-spring go bad. It's just unfortunate. This weekend started out to be a long weekend from the get-go. Mom said we'd have days like this, I guess, so it's just unfortunate with the Irwin car. I mean, we're supposed to do better with special paint schemes. Hopefully, we haven't worn out our luck."

WITH YOUR RESOLVE, YOU'LL BOUNCE BACK.

"Yeah. We're pretty good at finding ourselves a big hole and then digging out of it. I wish we could be a bit more consistent and just generate a consistent run, like Kenseth's doing. He's the guy that's putting the heat on every week."

WAS THERE ANY WARNING?

"We were on seven cylinders for about five laps and then it swallowed that valve-spring, and then it broke."

YOU LIKE IT HERE.

"Yeah. I really like Daytona, I love Chicago. We had two top-10 finishes here before. It's tough. I hate doing bad at the tracks that we can excel at, which are Sears Point, and Daytona, Chicago, and we've had three bad finishes in a row."
