Johnny Benson Jr.
As Johnny Benson makes his first appearance in a Winston Cup car at tracks across America, listen to the reaction of some fans who meet the 32-year-old Michigander for the first time. "He doesn't look like a race car driver," observed a fan expressing the sentiment of many. "He looks like an accountant or a stockbroker, and he's so down to earth," said another after talking with the 1995 Busch Grand National Champion who is now driving the #30 Pennzoil Pontiac on the Winston Cup Circuit in 1996.
FINA announced today that it would team up with BACE Motorsports and Randy LaJoie to run the full NASCAR Busch Grand National schedule in 1996.
FINA is not new to the Busch Grand National Series, and neither is Randy LaJoie. FINA has been a prominent sponsor in the Busch Grand National Series for the past 3 years. Veteran NASCAR driver Randy LaJoie, the 1985 Winston North Champion, has piloted race cars for teams on both the Busch Grand National and Winston Cup Circuits.
GM Goodwrench Services has signed CONTRACT 2000 with Dale Earnhardt and Richard Childress.
GM Goodwrench Service, Richard Childress Racing (RCR) and Dale Earnhardt are pleased to announce they will continue their championship teamwork into the 21 st Century.
The four-year agreement for a NASCAR Winston Cup program takes the championship trio through the year 2000. GM Goodwrench Service, the name used by GM Service Parts Operation (SPO) to provide parts and service through GM dealers, first joined the team as an associate sponsor in 1985 and has been the primary sponsor since 1987. At the completion of this extension GM Goodwrench Service, RCR and Earnhardt will have been associated together for 16 years, one of the longest associations in Winston Cup between a Sponsor, Owner, and Driver.
"I'm very pleased to continue our long association with Richard Childress Racing and Dale Earnhardt," said Bill Lovejoy, a GM vice president and general manager of SPO. "We've proven time and again that we're a winning team, and we plan to be in the winner's circle together many more times as we race into the 21st century.
