Charlotte II: Ford Racing Thurday quotes

BRETT BODINE --11-- Hooters Taurus "I don't think that's gonna be good enough. I don't think that's gonna get us in the show. We just haven't been fast enough all day. That's the best the car has been, but I still don't think it's gonna be...

BRETT BODINE --11-- Hooters Taurus

"I don't think that's gonna be good enough. I don't think that's gonna get us in the show. We just haven't been fast enough all day. That's the best the car has been, but I still don't think it's gonna be good enough."

RICKY CRAVEN --32-- Tide Taurus

"It's hard to qualify with moisture on the windshield. I know pretty much everybody is going through it, but I would like to have it over again. We made several big adjustments and it helped us, but we needed one more good adjustment and that probably would have closed the gap. Two-tenths would go a long way right now."

DALE JARRETT --88-- UPS Taurus

"I thought that lap was faster than what it turned out to be. It felt like I was driving really hard, but I guess sometimes you think you're pedaling fast and you're not getting anywhere. It was a good lap. The car drove good. This was our best race car. It's the car we've won two races with this year, so I know come Sunday we're gonna be pretty good. It's better than my qualifying attempt last year when I crashed, so at least I'm here in one piece and the car is in one piece. I know we'll have a good car for Sunday."

WAS THE TRACK A FACTOR? "The track was fine for me. I was a little concerned because I was sitting there with about three cars to go and I could look out in the lights and see the rain drops coming down, but then I'd look on my windshield and there wasn't anything there. It was kind of weird, but I can't blame anything on the track."

RUSTY WALLACE --2-- Miller Lite Taurus

"I guess we've just got to wait it out. I'm gonna go over and find out what their plan is because we're supposed to get rain all night long and into tomorrow I hear, so I don't know if we're gonna get this thing rained out and start by points again, or are they gonna try to bring us back in and qualify tomorrow. Your guess is as good as mine."

WHAT WOULD YOU RATHER DO? "I'm running pretty good. I'd like to qualify because these are our hometown fans and it would great to let them see it. If I was running bad I'd probably rather start by points, but I'm running really good. I've got my new black car with the flames and the back in black scheme, so I really want to let them see it. I want to show it off for them a little bit."

WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION TO THE NASCAR PENALTY THIS WEEK? "All I can tell you is that it's a major disappointment. It's a major surprise. I didn't know anything about this spoiler. I know you've got to have rules and rules are rules, but the more I thought about this I felt like the whole thing was uncalled for personally. There are car owner points and there are driver points. I wished they would have just taken the 25 car owner points, instead of taking 25 driver points and 25 car owner points. You can win the championship off of driver points, but you can't win it off of car owner points. It's upsetting, but there's nothing you can do about it. I've never seen anything like this changed, but I sure didn't see it coming."
