GREG BIFFLE -- No. 16 Dish Network Ford Fusion (Finished 43rd)
"It was just a right-front tire. It's unfortunate. I hate to talk bad about anybody or bash anybody, but I just have to tell you that I think we've got the worst tires in racing -- period. Nobody can drive on these things. They're so hard. Nobody can race side by side. It just doesn't put on a good race. We just need to soften the tire up, use some technology and get downforce or horsepower out of the cars -- whatever it takes -- to where we're not doing stuff like this. The tire is so hard that it just does that for a period of time and blows out."
DO YOU ANTICIPATE WE'LL SEE MORE OF THAT IN THE RACE? "I don't think so. As the track rubbers up and starts to slow up. We had no indications yesterday that we had any tire issues -- shoulder temps or anything like that. We were not aggressive on camber or anything. It's just that these tires and this race track, the same with Las Vegas, it just doesn't fit. We don't do this kind of stuff at Atlanta or Darlington -- places like that that put on good races and we've got good tires on the cars. It's just unfortunate. We had a great race car, but here we are."
WHAT HAPPENED AGAIN? "We blew a right-front tire. These tires are so hard that you can't do anything on them. They make them so hard to slow the cars down that the tires don't shed any heat off of them. I don't know what the deal is, but they put the hardest tire world on and you can't drive the race cars. You can't race side by side and then they blow out on top of that, so it's real unfortunate for us. We had a great car -- the Dish Network car. I was just kind of riding along because I wanted to work on it a little bit, and I felt like I had car I might have been able to get up in the top five with for sure, but it's just unfortunate."
DAVID GILLILAND -- No. 38 M&M's Ford Fusion (Finished 35th)
"I just saw a piece of tire come up and from there everybody just started wrecking. On the restart everybody is kind of bunched up and everybody is just super-close and it's too bad. We had a good car. I just wish we could have been done better with our Shrek the Third paint job. I felt like we had a really good car, but Charlotte just hasn't been kind to us. We'll try to get it fixed and go back out and finish this race and gain some more points."
BILL ELLIOTT -- No. 21 U.S. Air Force Ford Fusion (Finished 38th)
"They came down and I shouldn't have hit him. I just shouldn't have hit him. I just committed too late to go down. I tried to wait too long."
HOW DID IT FEEL TO BE BACK IN A RACE CAR? "It felt good. We finally got pretty decent there that last run and I was feeling pretty good. We'll see if we can get her going here in a minute."
YOU WERE JUST WAITING FOR THE LUCKY DOG TO GET BACK ON THE LEAD LAP. "The car was pretty good. I just hate it for these guys."
WHAT DID YOU SEE DEVELOP IN FRONT OF YOU WITH THE WRECK? "I thought they were gonna stay there and I just kind of already committed to come down and I couldn't get my foot off the brake. I tried to do what I had to do and I just waited too long. I should have just kind of rolled on around on the outside, but I had made the move trying to go low and I was trying to get the car whoa'd down to go low and I should have gone high. They kind of cleaned off there a little bit later than what I expected."
DAVID RAGAN -- No. 6 AAA Ford Fusion (Finished 37th)
"My spotter was doing a great job. He told me the 99 was having a problem and, of course, I could see that. I just thought he would come up the track a lot faster. I really feel bad for all the Office Depot guys. I really hated to get into Carl. He was coming across the track and I thought he would come a lot faster than he did. I thought I could squeeze through in the middle. I was just trying not to wreck myself and turned it down the hill and, guess what, I wrecked myself. So it's a tough night for the AAA team, but what a great race car. We had a lot of fun and we'll get 'em at Dover next week."
HOW WAS YOUR CAR OVERALL? "Our AAA Ford Fusion was pretty strong. We started in the back and was really loose to start off with and then the sun started coming down and it just kind of played in our favor. I felt at any given time we had a top five or top 10 car and I was just kind of cruising just trying not to do anything crazy and jeopardize a good finish. I'm real disappointed that we're sitting in the garage right now. I really hate that hit had to be my teammate, Carl Edwards. I really hate to ruin his night also."
A LOT OF TIRE TALK TONIGHT. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? "I haven't been around long enough to know what's right and what's wrong. They felt fine to me. I think if your car is handling fine, they're all right. You just can't drive as hard as you would like to, but these guys prepared a great race car."
RICKY RUDD -- No. 88 Snickers Ford Fusion (Finished 7th)
DO YOU FEEL OLD? "I do when I had to run without a cool helmet about the last 100 miles. That was pretty tough. We've been having a lot of alternator trouble this year for some reason and I just had to turn all the systems off and just try to ride it out."
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO GET THIS RESULT? "We knew we had a good car. We obviously didn't have a winning car, but we knew we had a top 12, top 15 car. Even when we got here we qualified seventh with it. It's been quick all along, but I'm really proud of our guys on this Snickers Dark Chocolate team. They kept chasing the race track. We started off and were about right. We needed to free up more and we were just almost a stop behind every time on getting the car freed up enough, but our guys did a great job calling the shots on getting the car freed up. We were OK. We were about a 12th-place car and we ended up seventh or eighth, so we'll take it."
DID YOU THINK THE RACE MIGHT COME TO YOU AND YOU WOULD WIN? "I was having to save gas so much the last couple of laps. We were lucky to finish. We've got two batteries and the second battery had 10 volts in it. As a matter of fact, I stalled it in the garage area and it wouldn't start back up. We were just glad we were able to finish, really."
BUT YOUR CAR WAS COMPETITIVE ALL NIGHT. "It was a racy car. It was a 10th-place car probably. If we could have got it freed up, it would have been better than that. We just never could seem to get the right handle on it."
