MARK MARTIN -- No. 6 AAA Ford Fusion (Finished 4th)
"I'd say for the first time with the new asphalt it get an A. You don't get many of those. It was a good run by the AAA Fusion. The team was the best we've been on pit road all year. I think we can take this and build on it. If we can take this and put her in the chase maybe and keep getting better. If we can keep getting better once we get in the chase, then we'll have a shot at this thing."
WAS PATIENCE A KEY? "We ran pretty good in the middle of the race. We were off at the beginning and off at the two-third mark, and then got better again late. It's a 600-mile race and I didn't forget it."
DID YOU GET TIRED OF PITTING ALL THOSE TIMES? "I was wishing we weren't having to, but it was a good race. It's all good. I want to compliement Goodyear. It was a hard tire to drive on, but it was a good race."
MATT KENSETH -- No. 17 R&L Carriers Ford Fusion (Finished 5th)
WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE TRACK/TIRE COMBINATION? "It's fine. Some people made it work better than others. I just struggled with it. From the time I came here in my Busch car, my Busch car had no problem, it drove fine. I was comfortable and I could make changes. This car, the whole all-star weekend, this weekend and the race, I just couldn't figure it out. I couldn't make the right calls and do the right adjustments. No matter what we did I just could never get the feel of this car the way I needed it to be. I could never get it balanced. I could be spinning out loose at the beginning of the run and then in 10 laps I'd be pushing so bad that I was ready to knock the fence down, so I just never could figure it out."
YOU HAD TWO GOOD NIGHTS. "Yeah, we did. We had a great car last night. Tonight we didn't necessarily have a great car, but we had a great effort by the team to give me good pit stops, make the right calls at the end and get our R&L Carriers car in position to get a good finish, so it feels good to get out of here fifth. You always want to win, but we just couldn't figure it out all weekend. As bad as I thought we ran, we still finished really good."
HOW ABOUT THE NEW SURFACE? "The surface is great. The small fuel cell made it interesting on pit road. Hopefully we won't have the small fuel cell next time and maybe a little bit softer tire, but the pavement is awesome. The track, they did a great job paving it. It's just like Charlotte used to be, especially in a couple of years the groove will move around, but even tonight you saw the high groove come in and you had good side-by-side racing. I don't know if you could ask for much more."
ALL FIVE ROUSH CARS IN THE TOP 10. YOU GUYS HAD SOMETHING FIGURED OUT. "Yeah, I guess. Maybe they did, I didn't. Everybody did a good job and it was cool that everybody got a good finish. I know Carl needed that and Jamie for sure needed a good finish, so it was good for those guys and good for all of us to have a good points night."
CARL EDWARDS -- No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion (Finished 3rd)
"My crew did a great job. We recovered very well. The car wasn't that great, but I just had a good time racing. We came from the back and congratulations to Kasey Kahne. I had fun racing with Jimmie there at the end. I was kind of conflicted whether I should race him that hard or not, but I thought our car was a little better so I had fun."
YOU CAN RACE HERE. "Oh yeah, we can race here. We just have to get our car to where it can turn just a little better in the center. It'll be a lot of fun. I still had a good time. I think if we would have got four tires, we might have been a little closer. Once again, congratulations to Kasey Kahne, that's a big win."
NOT A BAD WEEKEND. "No, I had a good time. A win and a third-place is just fine."
JAMIE MCMURRAY -- No. 26 Smirnoff Ice Ford Fusion (Finished 8th)
"It's such a long race and after my wreck last night, I was a little bit worried about getting in a car because that was pretty much the hardest hit I've ever taken. When I woke up this morning I still had a headache, so you never know how you're gonna react when you get in a car and have to go that fast in that long of a race. I feel fine right now, though. I guess a good finish will help that."
WHAT ABOUT ALL THE PIT STOPS? "I actually enjoyed making all the pit stops. We struggled a little bit in the pits, but it was nice because if you were getting ready to go a lap down, you could pit and adjust on your car. I really enjoyed getting to pit as many times as we did."
DID YOU NEED ALL OF THOSE STOPS TO ADJUST? "Yeah, we were bad at the beginning but we felt like we would be tight at the beginning and you're back in traffic and the race track was tight. Bob did a great job adjusting on the car. We did two tires a lot and made great adjustments on our two-tire stops, so it was rather encouraging for our team."
CAN THIS START SOME GOOD MOMENTUM? "We've run in the top 10 a few times earlier in the year, but what I think is so encouraging for us and the momentum builder for us this weekend is that we started out bad and we got our car good. It's so important in these races if you can't start out good to be able to adjust on your car, so I'm excited about that."
JACK ROUSH, Car Owner -- Roush Racing Ford Fusions
"You just do the best you can and hang around in the area. If parts don't break and you don't get involved in a crash, you sometimes can win a race when you're not the fastest, but the fastest car won the race tonight and that's the way it should be. That's the way we'd like to have it. We'll have our share of cars that are the fastest. The Fusion did a great job. All of the support we got from Dan Davis and the SVO folks has just been wonderful. It really speaks volumes to be able to take all five cars and put them in the top 10. The engines ran good. We got good fuel mileage. We just need to put a string of these together until we get to the second Richmond race and then go race for a championship."
