Elliott Sadler Thirsty for Coca-Cola 600 Crown
QUOTING M&M'S DRIVER ELLIOTT SADLER: "The Coca-Cola 600 is well known by everyone that follows our sport because it is our longest race of the year. I'll probably drink more fluids throughout the night than I normally would for a 500-mile race. We know going into the race that as the night progresses the track will change. The cooler it gets the more grip the track will develop and Lowe's Motor Speedway is definitely one of the most temperamental tracks on the circuit. A few degrees can make a big difference so we will build a lot of adjustability into the car so we can adapt to the change in track temperatures.
"Qualifying at Lowe's Motor Speedway is always exciting because it is at night under the lights and it is super fast. Everyone wants to go out later in qualifying in hopes that the track will be a tenth or so faster as the track cools down. It's a fast track and for some reason when we qualify and race under the lights the cars look faster. I think the fans really enjoy that aspect of racing at night and the drivers enjoy the fact that it is cooler."
QUOTING CREW CHIEF TODD PARROTT: "We have to build a lot of adjustability into the car. This is an endurance race and I have a driver who favors these 1.5-mile tracks. We are taking the car we won Texas with so it should be a good night for us."
QUOTING M&M'S SPOTTER BRETT GRIFFIN: "There's a lot of talk about the Coca-Cola 600 being the longest race of the year, and it certainly is if you look at how many miles are raced. But, once you get in a zone and get ready to race it is really tough to say there's a big difference for spotters. Drivers have to go the extra 100 miles and the motors have to but that really doesn't equate to that much extra work for the pit crews and the spotters. It's a prestigious race to run and it would be even better to win the Coca-Cola 600. "
