Championship winning crew chief Jimmy Fennig to step down at season's end

Jimmy Fennig currently serves as the crew chief for Carl Edwards.

Jimmy Fennig is one of the most successful crew chiefs in NASCAR today, but he will not be sitting on top of the pit box come 2015. He's been around for nearly three decades with a career dating all the way back to 1986 with Mark Martin.

He has amassed 40 race wins as a crew chief, including the 1988 and 2012 editions of the Daytona 500. Only nine others have ever earned more Sprint Cup victories on top of the pit box. His biggest achievement has to be when he and Kurt Busch earned the 2004 championship for Roush-Fenway Racing.

He is currently working with Carl Edwards and plans to take on a new role within the organization, according to reports.
