LIFE IN THE FAST LANE FOR EDWARDS, LITERALLY
Carl Edwards and the entire No. 99 Office Depot team stay busier now than during season.
Concord, N.C. (January 27, 2006) - To most people, the off-season means the off-season; not to Carl Edwards. The third-place finisher in 2005 has been living life in the fast lane. Over the last two weeks Carl and his No. 99 Office Depot team have completed both the Daytona NASCAR Nextel Cup test as well as the Daytona NASCAR Busch test. He was on stage when Roush Racing hosted the motor sports media for the Annual Lowe's Motor Speedway "Media Tour". On top of all this Edwards has also filmed four commercials for the upcoming season, been in five photo shoots and has made numerous appearances in support of the new Ford Fusion that is ready to hit track at the Daytona 500.
Edwards has also built in some time just for himself during this busy stretch. Every morning he is at the shop working out with the crew, taking seat fittings and discussing with Bob Osborne how to make their Ford Fusion a tick faster. With the Daytona 500 a little over two weeks away, Edwards and his crew have to take everything they learned in testing to prepare for the upcoming race. Thanks to his two pole positions in 2005 (California and Homestead) Carl will have a little extra time on the track making his first appearance in the Budweiser Shootout on February 11, 2006.
Edwards is geared up and ready to go racing, in a statement the third year Cup driver left it plain and simple, "I just want to start racing again, the Daytona 500 couldn't come any quicker for me and Office Depot No. 99 team."
Bob Osborne, crew chief for the No. 99 Office Depot team said, "We are pretty excited for the Daytona 500; we have a new style racecar for Roush Racing. We are using this new style for both the Bud Shootout, as well as the Daytona 500."
The Office Depot No. 99 team and Edwards have a lot to prepare for in the coming days leading up to Daytona. They will be participating in the Budweiser Shootout, the Gatorade Dual's, the Hershey's Kissable 300 and the Daytona 500.
