Notes: Both the NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series will run the same tire codes this weekend . . . this is the first time Goodyear has brought this combination of left- and right-side tires to Texas . . . this is the only track at which NASCAR teams will run this specific tire set-up in 2005 . . . Texas is the only track at which this right-side code (D-6874) is scheduled to be run this year, though this left-side code (D-6852) will be run with a different right-side at California, Lowe's, Michigan, Chicagoland and Kansas . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners on all four tire positions at Texas . . . inflation of those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Racing: "We tested Texas with Elliott Sadler and Tony Stewart in January. This new tire set-up features slightly softer compounds on both sides, as compared to last year. As the surface at Texas has aged, it hasn't really lost much grip. This year's aero rules changes had very little effect on the overall balance of the cars at our test, so we made only a minor adjustment to the compounds."
