FORT WORTH-DALLAS (March 5, 2001) - The 2001 season has begun at Texas Motor Speedway and soon fans will be descending on The Great American Speedway for one of the biggest weeks in racing.
RPM Week-Texas will kick off on March 28 with five days of racing and related activities culminating with the Harrah's 500 NASCAR Winston Cup race on Sunday, April 1.
"This will be a true race fan's dream," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "There will be four of the nation's top racing series competing over the five-day stretch here at Texas Motor Speedway. Top that off with racing-related events going on in the community and you've got one heck of a week."
The week's activities will begin Wednesday, March 28 with the Albertson's Spring Challenge United Dirt Track Racing Association (UDTRA - formerly Hav-A-Tampa) late models series on the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. Thursday and Friday nights, March 29-30 will see the return of the popular Pennzoil World of Outlaws to the dirt track in the Southern Bleacher Classic. O'Reilly Qualifying Days begin Thursday on the 1.5-mile superspeedway for the Jani-King 300 NASCAR Busch Series event and on Friday for the Harrah's 500 NASCAR Winston Cup race. Saturday, March 31 is the Jani-King 300 and Sunday, April 1 is the Harrah's 500.
The week's activities will also be highlighted by other race-related events going on in the community including Chevy Thunder in the Stockyards, a two-day race festival held in the historical Fort Worth Stockyards. The event features NASCAR drivers, interactive race displays and top entertainers.
Tickets for all RPM Week-Texas races are on sale seven days a week at the speedway ticket office, by calling (817) 215-8500, online at www.texasmotorspeedway.com and at all Ticketmaster locations.
