Roush Racing Quote of The Week
August 16, 2004
TOPIC: Roush Racing drivers are participating in the Justice League cars this weekend in both the NEXTEL Cup and Busch Grand National Divisions. We asked them to comment on what they most had in common with their representative character:
Mark Martin, driver of the No. 6 Pfizer Batman Ford Taurus:
"Well, I know that Batman drove a really fast car and I sure hope to be driving a really fast car this weekend at Michigan. As I recall that Batmobile was all ways really dialed in, hopefully we'll have that in common this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday."
Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 National Guard Flash Ford Taurus:
"Any racecar driver as a kid growing up wanted to be like The Flash more than any other superhero because he was 'the fastest man alive'.
Matt Kenseth, No. 17 Martian Manhunter Express Personnel Services Ford Taurus:
"The Martian Manhunter, from what I've read, has shape-shifting abilities, the power to pass through solid objects and incredible strength. I sure would like to pass through some solid cars on restarts sometimes. Maybe the strength is the closest match--you have to be pretty tough and in good shape to wheel these cars around all weekend long, especially when you're pulling double duty."
Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 97 Superman Sharpie Ford Taurus:
"Obviously Superman has it all - he's faster than a speeding bullet and able to leap tall buidlings in a single bound. That's exactly what we're trying to do with our Sharpie/IRWIN car every time we take to the track - go fast and overcome any obstacles that might be in our path. It's all about avoiding any kryptonite, especially as we work towards these final ten races."
Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Green Lantern Ford Taurus:
"The Green Lantern is a fighter and he's out to do what's best for the world. Similar to him, I'm a fighter and I'm out to do what's best for the No. 99 team and Roush Racing and that's win races."
Roush Racing is a subsidiary of Livonia, Mich., based Roush Industries that operates nine motorsports teams; five in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series with drivers Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards, two in the NASCAR Busch Series with Martin, Kenseth and Biffle and two in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with drivers Jon Wood and Carl Edwards."
