Ford championship weekend returns to Homestead-Miami in 2003.
NASCAR Winston Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck Series to again conclude seasons in Miami.
MIAMI, FL (November 25, 2002)- For the second consecutive year, the NASCAR Winston Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck Series will all conclude their seasons in South Florida during the second annual Ford Championship Weekend, November 13-16, 2003 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Earlier this month, Homestead-Miami Speedway hosted the first-ever NASCAR Championship Weekend, where the NASCAR Winston Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck Series held their season-finales at the same track and on the same weekend for the first time in motorsports history. At the 2002 Ford Championship Weekend, Tony Stewart clinched the NASCAR Winston Cup Championship at the Ford 400; Greg Biffle was crowned the NASCAR Busch Series Championship following the Ford 300; and Mike Bliss clinched the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship at the Ford 200.
"We're honored to once again host three NASCAR championships at the second annual Ford Championship Weekend," said Curtis Gray, President Homestead-Miami Speedway. "While fans this year witnessed Tony Stewart win his first NASCAR Winston Cup championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway, there's no telling the drama they'll be in store for next season."
Ford Championship Weekend will again be a four-day racing event in 2003. NASCAR Busch and Craftsman Truck Series Practice and Qualifying will take place on Thursday, November 13. The Ford 200, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season-finale, along with Winston Cup Qualifying, will be held on Friday, November 14. The Ford 300, the NASCAR Busch Series season-finale, along with Winston Cup Happy Hour, will be on Saturday, November 15. The weekend culminates with the Ford 400, the NASCAR Winston Cup Series season-finale on Sunday, November 17.
While concluding their seasons during Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck Series schedules will also begin their seasons in the state of Florida. Daytona International Speedway will host the season-openers for all three series during SpeedWeeks in February highlighted by the Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 16.
