EDWARDS HURTS THUMB AFTER LATE MODEL DIRT RACE WRECK

CONCORD, NC (July 24, 2007) -- Roush Fenway Racing confirmed today that NASCAR driver Carl Edwards was involved in a dirt track accident during a Late Model race July 22nd at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska. As a result of the accident, Edwards was taken by ambulance to a local hospital in West Omaha for precautionary x-rays and a preliminary examination.

The early diagnosis for Edwards was a dislocated right thumb and he was released the next day. Edwards also consulted a physician July 23rd in Columbia, Missouri, which confirmed the same.

Roush Fenway Racing president Geoff Smith confirms that Edwards will be able to participate in the upcoming Nextel Cup Allstate 400 at the Brickyard Sunday and the Busch Series Kroger 200 at O'Reilly Raceway Park.
