Earnhardt Jr. Budweiser Race Preview
Dale Jr. Quotes
"This is our third opportunity to win the Winston "No Bull 5" million dollar bonus, and this time we plan to carry that big wad of Winston's cash home with us. Talladega is an awesome place and I always love to race there. It's so intense because you always have to think ahead you know, out-think the other guys that are right beside you or behind you or right ahead of you. You never have time to chill out because you are always three-wide there, and that's as exciting for me inside the race car as it is for the fans up there watching.
"We've been great at Talladega and Daytona the DEI (Dale Earnhardt Inc.) restrictor plate program is really at the top of the pack. If you wanna win a restrictor plate race, you gotta deal with us. Our engine guys work year-round on it and our aero package is great too. We're taking the car that we won Daytona with in July, so I know I'm pumped up and the team is pumped up to roll into victory lane with that Budweiser car again. This time, it'll be painted red like it usually is. I've got one side of the "baseball" paint scheme body from Daytona mounted in my new garage now. I'm gonna enjoy that one forever."
About the recent NASCAR rule changes for this event:
"The aerodynamic package at these races (at Talladega and Daytona) cuts such a big hole in the air, I could drive my pick-up truck in the draft there and still keep up. It will still come down to the driver at the end"

The Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI) Intimidators have won the 2001 Championship for the Totally Racin' Softball League, a league made up of 12 teams from a variety of NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch Series crew members and employees. The DEI juggernaut beat the Hendrick team in the championship game by a score of 21-13. It is unknown as of press time if the scintillating title game will be seen on NBC at some point in the future, perhaps during any snow or rain delays at the New Hampshire race following Thanksgiving. (Just kidding about the NBC thing.)

What to Watch
Can you hold your breath for 500 miles? This is one of the most gut-wrenching stops on the circuit not just because one of five teams can win a million dollar bonus from Winston, but because the three- and four-wide racing goes on constantly, creating immense opportunities to pass or crash. The winner is almost always determined in a last-lap, mad-dash scramble to the finish line that looks more like a rugby scrum than an auto race.
