CORNELIUS, N.C. -- Martin Truex Jr. enjoys Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) despite the fact he has to remember to breathe before he navigates his first lap in his NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota at the half-mile short track. Truex looks to seize upon another chance for a win at Bristol since he captured his first NASCAR Nationwide Series victory there in 2004.
Martin Truex Jr. on Bristol being a favorite track: "Bristol to me is a lot of fun. It feels really fast. Of all the tracks we go to, you get a real sense of speed . Corner speeds, g-forces and banking -- everything happens so quick there. It makes it different and a lot of fun to drive.
"I think every time we go there, and probably everyone who goes out on the track and runs two or three laps and come in, they don't breathe when they are out there. The track just catches you off guard at first. You are pretty much out of breath. You are so tense and so up on the wheel at that track. You concentrate so hard because it takes so much concentration to get around it. I really think you forget to breathe sometimes."
Truex's favorite memory at Bristol: "It was winning there in the Nationwide Series race in 2004. It was my first ever Nationwide Series win. It was definitely a big deal for me. I've enjoyed the track ever since. I think about that win every time I go back there. It is a very special place to me."
Pat Tryson on NAPA team's performance leading into Bristol: "I think we are doing OK. I don't think we are as good as we want to be at this point because of a mechanical issue (Auto Club Speedway) and a wreck (Atlanta Motor Speedway). I think if we wouldn't have had those two things, we would be in the top 10 in points. I think we are OK, but we need to be better. We haven't been able to dominate a race yet which is what we need to do."
