Bristol, Tenn. (Aug. 23, 2006)-- Sterling Marlin is eager to get back home to Tennessee and compete at Bristol Motor Speedway.

"I absolutely love racing at Bristol," said Marlin. "It's real racing. Bumping and rubbing... it's always fun and a thrill for both drivers and fans. There's never a dull moment out there."

Marlin will pilot his No. 14 Ginn Clubs & Resorts Chevrolet in Saturday night's Sharpie 500 and hopes to produce a strong finish at the historic .533-mile track.

"Bristol is as much about experience and quick thinking as it is about a good race car," said Marlin. "If you can get behind the wheel of a fast machine, it's just an added bonus. This team has been working extra hard on the Ginn Clubs & Resorts Chevy so I'm confident we'll have a competitive machine."

In addition to his preference for short track racing, Marlin has another reason to be excited about the half-mile oval. A native of Tennessee, Marlin has been competing at Bristol Motor Speedway since 1983. And while Columbia, Tenn., Marlin's hometown, is more than three hundred miles from there, he still considers it his home track.

"Bristol is like home field for me," offered Marlin. "The fans are unbelievable and they always pull for their hometown driver. The Nextel Cup Series doesn't visit any other track in Tennessee, so Bristol is a pretty special place for me."

"I've had some great finishes here in the past," continued Marlin. "But we've never brought home the trophy. I'd like nothing more than to get a victory at one of my favorite places--a short track in Tennessee."
