BOBBY LABONTE (No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge Charger) -- 3rd
"We made some adjustments and ended up 12th fastest in practice. The track looked like it was a little bit slippery, so we made a little change in air pressure. The lap was a little bit free entry, but it really dug up off the corner and that's what got us the half tenth we ran earlier in practice. I'm really proud about that. The guys worked hard this week We had a fast lap in practice last weekend and screwed up in qualifying, so we came back and got a little better this weekend. That's a good place to start. Obviously if we can fix short term and run good, that would bode well for long term. I think we can accomplish the short term goals and make it go fast and finish races in the top five, top 10s and looking at wins. We've got to look at them first before we can acknowledge getting them. Hopefully we can do that. Coming back around to tracks the second time, even though we went to Michigan last week for the second time and it didn't go well for us, but this is a good track for us and hopefully we can turn up the wick a little bit for our team and get better.
"I think I started 34th or 35th here the first race, stayed out of trouble and finished fifth. If we had been starting third and hadn't had to fight a lot of stuff and be better the first 250 laps, we might have been three positions ahead of where we were at the end. I think qualifying is real important here, just like it is everywhere. If your car is good, you can make some good moves here. I'm not going to knock starting third over 35th that's for sure. I'll take third.
"It was great to see Kyle have a good qualifying run today, too. That's got to do a lot for his confidence, and he's always run pretty good at Bristol. With a little luck maybe we can both have good runs tomorrow night."
