Schrader's Thoughts On Bristol Motor Speedway...
"If there is one thing that I know for sure about Bristol, it's that tempers are going to flare and fenders are going to get dented - especially during the night race. Bristol is already a short track, but with 43 cars beating and banging on each other for 500 miles it gets even smaller. It's definitely a white-knuckle race - things happen so fast there that you really don't have time to think.
"The Bristol night race is a fun race for the fans, but the track has been tough when it comes to overall performance. It's just so easy to get wrecked at Bristol. We have a special paint scheme this weekend with the purple "M&M's"® car. Purple has already been crowned the winner of the GLOBAL COLOR VOTE(tm), and the No. 36 team would like to give it another victory at Bristol."
"M&M's"® Racing At Bristol Motor Speedway... * The wait is finally over. This weekend, Schrader will make his debut in the purple No. 36 "M&M's"® car. Purple was the winning color - beating out both pink and aqua - in "M&M's"® first-ever GLOBAL COLOR VOTE(tm) earlier this year. More than 10 million people around the world cast their vote in the three-month contest. Purple won with 41 percent of the vote.
"I think the purple No. 36 is going to look pretty sporty under the lights at Bristol, but you may not be able to tell what color the car is by the time the race is over." Schrader said. "I'm not too sure about the purple uniform, but I am pretty excited to be behind the wheel of the purple car. The people spoke, and they chose purple. I have to admit that I'm pretty glad they didn't choose pink."
* Last fall the "M&M's"® Racing Team had a strong qualifying effort at the world's fastest half-mile. The No. 36 car qualified 11th, and the team hopes to better that this time around.
* Ken Schrader and his friends who participated in "M&M's"® Night Of Stars on July 31st at I-55 Raceway were able to make a hefty contribution to Kyle and Pattie Petty's Victory Junction Gang Camp. The charity race and autograph session which featured Schrader, Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Bill Elliott, Steve Park, Johnny Benson and Mike Wallace raised $112,000 for the cause.
