BRISTOL, Tenn. (August 27, 2000) ? Elliott Sadler and the Wood Brothers Racing Team finished 7th under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway. Sadler endured 500 laps, or 1,000 left hand turns, at one of NASCAR's most demanding tracks. The team has been dealt an overwhelming supply of adversity during the 2000 season, but Sadler endured the bullring at Bristol and posted the best finish of his Winston Cup career.

Quoting Elliott: "We had a great race car all night long. This whole Wood Brothers Racing Team deserves a big pat on the back. This is a car we tried at Martinsville earlier in the year and we didn't like it. We brought it here and the car was a little tight all night, but I was scared to mess with it. We did not make one single adjustment all night. We just needed long green flag runs in order to show how strong we really were. I was kind of hoping the last 100 laps would have been under green. We probably would have had a better finish, but I tell you what, we're pretty ecstatic with 7th place. We're going to Darlington and we usually run good there and maybe this will turn around our season. It is so much fun to mix it up with the guys up front. I had a lot of fun (at Bristol) tonight. This is my favorite racetrack. It's cool to come here and see all these crazy fans and put on a good show for them. We have a lot of special things planned for the rest of the year. We're approaching the end of 50 Years in Racing for this team and I just want it to end on a good note. CITGO has been behind us all year and this finish proves we are capable of running up front."
