KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger)
ON PRACTICE TODAY (No. 1 overall): "We had a good practice. We got the car better throughout all practice and our No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger really felt great. We knew that the rain was coming in and wanted to make sure that we had our race package ready for tomorrow."
HOW WAS THE TIRE WEAR IN PRACTICE? "The left sides are wearing a lot. There's a lot of tire rubber on the race track which is going to make it kind of tough for two and three wide racing tomorrow. It will all be different tomorrow when we get the race going-- but definitely a lot of left side tire wear."
DARIO FRANCHITTI (No. 40 The Hartford Dodge Charger)
WHAT ARE YOU INITIAL THOUGHTS ON BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY: "It's a fantastic race track. You can see the white's of the fans eyes, it's just incredible. We certainly made some big gains in The Hartford Dodge Charger today. We unloaded off the truck reasonably well -- I just don't know what to expect in this race -- it's going to be crazy."
WHAT DID YOU LEARN IN PRACTICE TODAY? "I learned a lot. We had a big problem yesterday -- the car was snapping loose in the middle of the corners. We were able to fix the problem and I'm just learning how to get in-and-out of the corners. We did some longer runs to see how much tire wear we get and to see how much the car starts to slide up the track. I learn more and more with every lap we get in."
HAVE YOU EVER EXPERIENCED A RACE TRACK LIKE THIS BEFORE? "The only set of similar circumstances that I've experienced is at Richmond in an Indy car where you run 15-second laps wide open in qualifying. When you consider how heavy these stock cars are at the speeds that we are running, it's an unbelievable track."
SAM HORNISH JR. (No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger)
WHAT ARE YOUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF BRISTOL? "It's different from anywhere else that you're ever going to go to -- it's a lot of fun. I'm still trying to get comfortable running here and get to where I need to be in the car. Things happen really fast here and you just have to have confidence in your car and find a way to get around this place."
WHAT DID YOU LEARN IN PRACTICE TODAY? "We got almost twice as many laps in today than we did yesterday - and that helps. We're trying to make the car a little bit better in-and-out of exit. The board (timing and scoring) doesn't show that our Mobil 1 Dodge Charger is very good right now - but I think if you look at the average laps and how we've done -- our times are pretty good. There are a lot of guys that have a lot less laps on their tires that are going slower than us."
