Front Row Motorsports selects Moffitt to sub for the next three Cup races
Brett Moffitt will drive the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford for the next three Sprint Cup Series races starting this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The 22-year-old Grimes, Iowa native is filling in for David Ragan, who is subbing for the sidelined Kyle Busch in the No. 18 Toyota at Joe Gibbs Racing.
Moffitt is coming off an impressive eighth-place finish in Sunday’s Folds of Honor 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway filling in for Brian Vickers in the No. 55 Aaron’s Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing. Vickers returns this weekend following a medical leave.
After last weekend, I'm obviously eager to get back into a car and keep racing.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to run some races for Front Row," Moffitt said. "After last weekend, I'm obviously eager to get back into a car and keep racing.
“I'm grateful to Bob Jenkins and his team for giving me the chance to do that. I'll do my best to get some good finishes for them. I'm also thankful that Michael Waltrip Racing is allowing me to pursue this opportunity. I think it's going to benefit everyone in the end."
Moffitt has eight Cup starts, but prior to Atlanta his career-best finish was 22nd at Dover last year. The Toyota Racing Development and MWR test driver finished ninth in his only XFINITY Series start in 2012. Moffitt also has nine K&N Pro Series East wins.
For only his eighth start, he showed a lot of poise, patience and maturity that you don't often see in drivers that age.
"We know Brett doesn't have a ton of Sprint Cup experience, but he's got a lot of hours behind the wheel in testing time, and he was certainly impressive Sunday in Atlanta," FRM team owner Bob Jenkins said in the release. "For only his eighth start, he showed a lot of poise, patience and maturity that you don't often see in drivers that age."
