Dave Blaney (No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 10th “It’s been fun all day, you know, obviously, making runs and learning and gathering information for Brad’s (Keselowski) car and hopefully it’s going well. It’s just been enjoyable to jump in and do. I hope tomorrow goes well and I hope Sam (Hornish Jr.) has a good run in it on Sunday.”

HOW WAS THE LAP? DID YOU GET EVERYTHING YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD? “I thought my three and four wasn’t very good on my second lap, kind of over-run it a little bit but not bad. Sam will be last anyway (smiles) but I wish I could have got a good one for him. I didn’t feel like I got it all but thanks for letting me run it, everybody at Penske, Shell/Pennzoil, everybody.”

HOW SPECIAL WAS IT SEEING YOUR SON RYAN BLANEY WIN LAST WEEK? “It was. It might have been the coolest night I can remember for a long time but I’m pretty old and I’ve forgotten a lot of stuff (smiles). Very cool to be there and see everybody. You only get that first one once and I glad I was there."

WILL YOU MAKE IT TO KENTUCKY FOR THE RACE SATURDAY NIGHT? “I’m not sure tomorrow if I’m going to get to go or not.”

DO YOU FEEL PRESSURE TO TRY TO BE THERE? WHAT IS IT LIKE BEING THE DAD IN THIS SITUATION? “I don’t. Most of his races I haven’t been to only because of me racing. He’s go late model racing without me and I don’t think it bothers him or me that much. I’d rather be there. I don’t know how he feels about it (smiles) but I don’t think it matters to him either way.”

HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR CAREER VERSUS WANTING TO BE THERE AS HE PROGRESSES? “My career obviously is back burner when it comes to Ryan. I want the best for him or try to do everything I can do to just help him along or shorten up learning curves or whatever. He’s been very fortunate to have a lot of along the way and get hooked up with the Penske group and Brad Keselowski. He’s a got a great opportunity and I hope he makes the most of it.”

Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 15th

WHAT MAKES THIS TRACK SO CHALLENGING? “I don’t know. I mean, sometimes you hit it and sometimes you don’t and if I could figure that out I’d be a lot better. We’re just missing a little bit in qualifying trim and I think we’ll have it in the race.
