Bass extends commitment to RCR SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Nov. 19, 1998)Bass Pro Shops has announced it is reinforcing its commitment to NASCAR Winston Cup Racing as an associate sponsor on the No. 3 owned Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by Dale Earnhardt, this weekend in the 1998 NASCAR Thunder Special Motegi-Coca-Cola 500exhibition race in Motegi, Japan.
Joining the RCR team was a natural step for Bass Pro Shops to expand their interest in NASCAR. Bass Pro Shops became an associate sponsor of the famed No. 3 car at the beginning of the 1998 race season, and was the featured sponsor on the car's hood during the running of The Winston at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May.
"We've had such overwhelming response with our association of the Richard Childress Race team and Dale Earnhardt that joining them on the trip to Japan was a natural step for Bass Pro Shops to take," said President of Bass Pro Shops John L. Morris. "Running in Japan gives us world-wide exposure. It's a tremendous way for us to reach the many fishing enthusiasts throughout the world."
This marks the third consecutive year that Earnhardt, the seven-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion, and the RCR team have competed in Japan.
"We could not be happier to have Bass Pro Shops come on board with this project," said team owner Richard Childress. "Our association with Bass Pro Shops has been great, and we're excited to have them join us on an international level."
