NASCAR Fans Mail List

After attending the race and having so much that I think is interesting to pass on, I decided to create a new section on the mail list called Trackside with NASCAR Fans. It is a sequence of events that occurred as the race day went on that I feel like you might find informative or just get a laugh out of.

Trackside with NASCAR Fans

During the first laps of the race there was not a tremendous amount of conversations. Jeff Gordon initially reported problems of a push. Ray Evernham told him that the problem was probably due to traffic and to just wait and see. Dale Earnhardt reported being tight in the corners almost immediately. Dale Jarrett was silent for most of the day with an occasional clear and lap times. Mark Martin was one of the few top Fords to need any adjustments.

There were two times that were the most eventful in the race as far as conversations go. One was the Geoff Bodine pit stop incident. There was immediate traffic about what happened. Bodine remained quiet about it at this point, only wanting to know what happened. The second most eventful conversations happened during the 52-minute delay. With the radio set to scan I listened as the drivers talked about EVERYTHING. Here are some sound bites.

Dale Jarrett

".. Boy I hope this thing fires after all this. That would be a shame."
Todd Parrot."I'm sure it will Dale. What is the temperature?"

Dale Earnhardt

".. Teresa honey, you in the condo?" Teresa." Yeah Dale". Dale.." Are you there?". "YES Dale!" (See drivers do have the same trouble we do J)

"Who is involved in that?" Larry Mac "I think it was Grissom." Dale " Is he alright.that looked pretty bad." Larry "Yeah the fire was from the fuel cell he is upside down right now." Dale "Let me know how he is"

Geoff Bodine

"What the hell happened on that pit stop?" Crew Chief (stammering a little) "Ahhhhh well it really was no one particular person at fault."

Geoff "Will someone tell me what the hell happened...tires need lug nuts to stay on!" _________________________________ NASCAR Fans Mail List and Website http://www.cs.mtsu.edu/~csvlh
