Another solid day for the Harrah's Chevrolet and driver Robby Gordon at Las Vegas Motor Speedway lifted the team into 14th position in coveted NASCAR Nextel Cup Series points. Good pit work and adjustments to Gordon's car allowed NASCAR's only full-time owner/driver to finish in 12th place after spending the majority of the day within the top 20. Heading to Atlanta, Gordon looks to reclaim former glory as his only career pole was at the lightning fast track in 1997.
Robby Gordon's Quotes on Atlanta:
"Our team's strategy is right on track, and I've got a lot of confidence heading into Atlanta coming off such a strong finish in Vegas. The team is doing everything they can to give me the best race cars and pit stops during the race. Everyone's doing a phenomenal job. Atlanta is a super fast track, and I'm looking forward to another top finish this weekend. It's definitely a confidence boost for everyone involved when you know you're in a good place with your overall program.
Crew Chief Greg Erwin's Quotes on Atlanta:
"The biggest challenge right now is going from practice to qualifying knowing that you're going to have to go seven or eight-tenths faster than in practice but also keeping in mind that your car's going to have the same balance going that much faster than it did in practice. In the fall, we struggled a little bit in qualifying practice but thought we had a plenty good enough car to qualify. We unloaded and weren't very good and we got better and better and better throughout the day. If you look at the practice sheet and look at the end of practice, we were right in the middle of the pack. We went out and even picked up half a second. Everyone else picked up seven-tenths, and unfortunately we still ending up going home. This time around, no doubt in my mind, the outcome will be different."
