Sadler, M&M'S Have a 'Scary' Scheme for Atlanta

Elliott Sadler travels to the Atlanta Motor Speedway with two things on his mind - a pole position and making up points in the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup Championship. Sadler finished 32nd and suffered his first DNF last weekend at Martinsville during a late race crash relegating him to seventh in the point standings. His best performance in Atlanta was in the spring of 2003 as he started third and finished sixth. In celebration of Halloween, the #38 M&M'S will sport a festive orange and black paint scheme with the 'M' Characters in costumes.

QUOTING M&M'S0x0112IVER ELLIOTT SADLER: "The best thing we can do is to try and put last weekend's performance behind us. We just never hit on the right combination and never could get a handle on things. The best thing I saw was when I got back to the garage after taking the mandatory ride to the infield care center and seeing my guys thrashing to try and get the car back out on the track to keep our streak of running at the end of each race alive. We ran out of time and it didn't happen but those guys showed a ton of heart.

"This weekend will be better and we will continue to chase the guys in front of us. The points chase has been pretty wild so far as you can see all the troubles the #48 car had early on and now they are right up there in the thick of things so there is still hope and we aren't giving up.

"Regarding the Hendrick family, this is just an unspeakable tragedy for the entire Hendrick Organization. My thoughts and prayers are with Rick and Linda Hendrick, Hendrick Motorsports and all of the families of all those affected by this terrible loss."

QUOTING M&M'S0x00d2EW CHIEF TODD PARROTT: "We are taking the car we just ran in Charlotte for Atlanta. It was a brand new chassis before we finished seventh with it and since these mile and a half tracks compliment Elliott's driving style the performance should be there."

QUOTING M&M'S0x04d0OTTER BRETT GRIFFIN: "Many of us will have heavy hearts this weekend. Both Ricky Hendrick and Randy Dorton had spent a great deal of their time on the spotter's stand this season. Ricky spotted for Brian Vickers and Randy spotted for Jeff Gordon during practice on Fridays and Saturday's. They were definitely two of the nicest guys on the roof and we will miss them greatly. Our thoughts and prayers will be with their families this weekend in Atlanta.

"Atlanta is fast and it's the style of race track where Elliott and our team have excelled this year. As the race progresses Atlanta becomes a multi-groove race track much like Rockingham. That makes it challenging for the drivers and the spotters because guys may pass you on the inside or outside. That's the exact opposite of a place like Martinsville. I'm looking forward to the race."
