Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion, was the fastest in Saturday's first practice session at Atlanta Motor Speedway. That's a good thing for the team considering the fact Edwards had to leave the track for Memphis and won't run in happy hour. Edwards, along with crew chief Wally Brown, talked about practice.

CARL EDWARDS -- No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion

WAS THIS A BEST-CASE SCENARIO FOR YOU TODAY WITH JUST ONE PRACTICE SESSION AND BEING THE FASTEST? "Yeah, the car is real good. It went great. I feel real comfortable leaving and I don't think there is much we could do to make it better, so it might be a good deal."

WALLY BROWN, Crew Chief -- No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion

DO YOU FEEL PRETTY GOOD ABOUT PRACTICE AND TOMORROW? "Yeah. The car was real fast right off the truck and had pretty decent balance. We tried a couple of different packages and he liked the way we unloaded the most, so we're just gonna make a couple of small changes and start the race tomorrow."

ANY PROBLEMS WITH NOT GETTING A SECOND PRACTICE OR CAN IT BE A BLESSING? "I would like as much practice as possible, it's just a situation we're in where Carl has to go to Memphis and run the Busch race. We'll just keep an eye on our teammates and see if we can learn something for tomorrow."
