No Giving Up -- #00 Domino's Pizza Toyota Limps to a 40th Place Finish
Atlanta, GA -- David Reutimann, driver of the #00 Domino's Pizza Toyota in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, finished 40th in the Kobalt Tools 500 today from Atlanta Motor Speedway.
David Reutimann and the rest of Team Domino's hoped that their string of bad luck this season would change heading into today's event at Atlanta Motor Speedway. For the first half of the race the Domino's Pizza team worked on getting a tight race car better throughout each pit-stop, and was making progress.
Unfortunately, around lap 233 Greg Biffle moved up from the bottom grove and clipped the front of David's #00 Domino's Pizza Toyota, sending Biffle into Brian Vickers. Kasey Kahne could not slow down quick enough and hit the back of the #00 Domino's Pizza Toyota -- sending both competitors into the turn four wall. David and the #00 Domino's Pizza Toyota was running 31th when the incident occurred.
"I don't know what to say. Our goal was to run around and gain points; we kept getting the car better and would have come away with a decent finish. It's frustrating when you run everyone clean and try to drive a safe race but you still get caught up in someone else's mistake," said David Reutimann
The #00 Domino's Pizza team did not give up afterwards and went on to repair the car to finish the race. "We did finish and that's encouraging. It definitely shows the #00 Domino's Pizza team's no quit attitude. We have to keep our heads high and go to Bristol with a positive attitude," said David.
