Robby Gordon's Quotes on Charlotte

"We had a great run last week in Darlington and I am looking forward to running our home track this weekend for the NEXTEL Open and the All-Star race," Gordon said. "The competition is going to be stiff though. With teams and drivers like Jeff Burton, Denny Hamlin and Brian Vickers all in the Open, we need to bring our A-game to the track this weekend. We have another car just like this one on the truck and we are not afraid to it bring back next weekend as the primary if needed. Hopefully though, when it's all done, we will have earned ourselves a spot in the All-Star race.

"With the new tire and with the new pavement it's a guessing game to what will happen over the course of the race. Hopefully, after the track has some more rubber laid down on it, it will be more like the Charlotte that we know.

"Overall though, our intermediate program has really been coming along and my confidence is high. Based on the past and especially with the cars that Greg [Erwin] and the guys at the shop have been giving me lately, I feel extremely confident that we can make it happen this weekend and take the No. 7 Jim Beam Black Chevy to the front and win the NEXTEL Open and the All-Star race."

Robby Gordon and the No. 7 Menards/Moen Chevrolet came ever so close to taming the "Lady in Black" last Saturday night at Darlington Raceway with a 13th-place finish. With the season's fourth top-15 finish behind them, and a surge up four places to 28th in the points, Gordon heads to NASCAR's unofficial home track for the first of two consecutive weeks of competition at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Gordon and 30 others will attempt to qualify for the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge by winning the 30-lap NEXTEL Open Saturday night.
