DALE EARNHARDT, JR., No. 8 Budweiser Monte Carlo SS, Qualified 17th:

"I took it a little easy today. Saw a lot of guys get in trouble today and I didn't want to wreck my car. I spun out of the pit box and spun my tires and was a little too aggressive getting on pit road. I did the same thing last year so one of these years I will get it right. I wasn't too aggressive on the track, I ran about 90% with my laps. I was as aggressive as I could be getting on pit road. That is where you separate yourself from the others by how you get on pit road. You gotta try and get all you can get."

JIMMIE JOHNSON, No. 48 Lowe's Monte Carlo SS, Qualified 2nd:

"I had decent laps on the track and got to pit road really good and then the guys had an amazing pit stop. The guys really nailed the pit stop. Their pit stop is what got us to where we are on the board. Great team effort. Starting near the front is a nice deal, but we are focused on tomorrow night and then moving on to the 600. We are trying to make sure we are right for that."

JEFF GORDON, No. 24 DuPont Monte Carlo SS, Qualified 4th:

"I am impressed and happy with it in every way possible. From the communication between Steve Latarte (crew chief) and myself to all that went in to getting the DuPont Chevrolet better. We weren't very good during the daytime, we were really loose. But the car ran pretty fast laps there on the track and the guys had a great pit stop. I just didn't want to mess it up for them by coming in on pit road too hard. I maybe even gave up a little bit there by being a little too conservative on pit road. But great team effort."

TONY STEWART, No. 20 Home Depot Monte Carlo SS, Qualified 8th:

"I am really happy with where we are. We had a good lap. The timed laps were good and the guys had a great pit stop. No mistakes, no penalties, we just had a nice clean run. That was the best the car has driven all day. I am excited about running tomorrow and coming back next week and doing the same thing. I just want to not get wrecked in tomorrow night's race. I think I have crashed out of the last five in a row or something like that. So much work goes into this. It is not a points race, it is a race for the fans but I would just like to finish one."
