Richmond, VA--These two sure do know how to put on a good show don't they? Raybestos Rookie contenders Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Newman swept the front row for Saturday night's 400 mile event at Richmond International Raceway.

Johnson's pole-sitting time, a lap turned in 21.404 seconds, a speed of 126.145 mph, was enough to give him his fourth pole of the season. "It was a good lap. I was faster on the first lap, which was surprising to me. I thought the second lap was going to be a little better."

Johnson sees nothing wrong with starting alongside Newman. Although they are fighting nose to nose for the rookie of the year title they still have a strong relationship. "Ryan and I have a friendship off the racetrack and respect each other on the racetrack,"

When Newman was asked how important the rookie of the year title was to him he replied, "It's something we all want to win when we have the opportunity and you only have the opportunity once in Winston Cup, so we're just doing the best we can. You don't race because you're going for the rookie of the year award, you race because you want to race and do the best you can."

Dave Blaney, Mark Martin, and Terry Labonte close out the top five starters. While defending race winner Ricky Rudd, Todd Bodine, Mike Skinner, Johnny Benson and the winner of the past two races, Jeff Gordon close out the top-10.
