2016 Dale Earnhardt Jr. Axalta scheme unveiled

The sponsor, formerly with the now retired Jeff Gordon, will be moving to Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s No. 88 in 2016.

Earlier this year, Axalta extended their contract with Hendrick Motorsports through 2018, shifting their primary sponsorship from the No. 24 to the No. 88.

In 2016, the new paint scheme will be seen on the car in 13 races. The company has been with Hendrick Motorsports for 23 years, formerly known as DuPont before being being rebranded in 2013.

Earnhardt was on hand for the unveil in Las Vegas during Champion's Week on Wednesday.

“I hadn’t seen the car in person before today," said Earnhardt. "Hopefully, we’ll get some good foot traffic here at The Cromwell with fans coming to check it out in person. I really love how bright and beautiful the car is. I think it will stand out on the racetrack really well and be easy to pick out, which is important to the fans.

"My family always tells me that they like when the car is easy to pick out on the telecast, so this will be easy for them to find. Hopefully it’s up front. I think we’ve got a lot of good things going on in 2016, and this is definitely one of them – we’ve got a bright, new race car and a great new partner in Axalta, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Earnhardt ended 2015 twelfth in the championship standings with three wins.
