STECKLY SCORES FIRST 2010 WIN IN VERNON

VERNON, BC, Sunday August 1, 2010: Scott Steckly driver of the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge started the day Saturday with a time good enough for sixth in practice and was six hundredths faster in qualifying earning the second starting position. Steckly ran in the top five for the duration of the 300 lap race and was in the lead when the checkered flag flew.

In qualifying Steckly demonstrated just how fast the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge can be when he took the outside pole to start the Cruisin the Dub 300 presented by A & W. Steckly maneuvred the half-mile tri-oval at Motoplex Speedway and posted a time of 18.442 seconds with an average speed of 97.6 mph.

When the green flag flew Steckly fell back to third but was soon able to regain second place, where he was running when the second caution came out on lap 133. Steckly pitted and took fuel and made some adjustments. "The plan was to make all of our adjustments and get the car working the way I wanted it before we put on tires" said Steckly.

Steckly was running in fifth when on lap 177 the caution came out. The team was ready for him on pit road giving him new tires to go the distance. After the restart Steckly was running in seventh, but the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge was charging hard and within 20 laps had taken over the third position. It wasn't long before Steckly was challenging for the lead, and with 64 laps to go Steckly took over the front position and held off D.J Kennington for the win.

Steckly and his team had a plan from the beginning and they executed it perfectly. "We worked all day on getting our car set up for long green flag runs" commented Steckly after the race, "our strategy worked out and we had a strong car with 50 laps to go" he added.

Scott Steckly has moved into third in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series point standings after six events.

Next up for the 22 Racing Team will be the Velocity Prairie Thunder at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon on Wednesday August 4th, where Steckly took home the checkered flag a year ago.
