SIMONE FINISHES SIXTH AT MOTOPLEX SPEEDWAY

August 1, 2010. The strong performance of the Anthony Simone and the #95 Rx100 Chevrolet team continues during the western swing of the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. At round number six this past Saturday at Motoplex Speedway near Vernon, BC Simone scored an impressive sixth place finish and climbed further up the overall point standings.

As usual the #95 Rx100 Chevrolet team worked to improve the cars performance during practice and scored the seventh quickest time during qualifying for the 300 lap feature event. "The team did a great job working on the car" said Simone. "We were confident that we could pick up another good finish during the race" he added.

A long green flag run to begin the race would prove to be difficult for the #95 Rx100 Chevrolet team. "We were battling a loose race car all night" said the driver. "With the long green flag run to begin the race we slipped back a few spots because we didn't have the chance to make a pit stop for adjustments" he explained...

Finally after more than 100 laps of green flag racing the first caution period of the night came however it wasn't all good news for the #95 Rx100 Chevrolet team. "During the long run we went down a lap and to take advantage of the free pass we couldn't make a pit stop to take on tires so we had to keep on trying to make things happen without new tires" said the driver.

As the race continued the #95 Rx100 Chevrolet team would have the opportunity to make their scheduled stops for fuel and service and also made significant improvements in the cars handling. "Because of the way the race played out It wasn't until later in the race when we cycled through our pit stops and the team got the car handling much better but once they did we could run with the leaders" said Simone.

Fighting right until the end Simone worked the #95 Rx100 Chevrolet forward as best he could through the field. "We got our fresh right side tires on with about eighty laps to go and we got the free pass to get us back on the lead lap we showed how good the car was" said the driver

Battling to the end of the race Simone pushed the #95 Rx100 Chevrolet toward the front and would accept the checkered flag with a sixth place finish. "To come out of here with a sixth place finish is great for our team" said the driver. "We just didn't the breaks in the early part of the race and we got down some laps. But the team worked hard to get the car handling better and it was really good at the end. We're really happy with how we've performed in these two races out west and we're looking for another strong run in Saskatoon" he concluded.

Next up is round seven this coming Wednesday August 4th at Auto Clearing Speedway in Saskatoon, SK.
