STECKLY SETTLES FOR SIXTH AT TROIS RIVIERES

TROIS RIVIERES, QC, Monday Aug. 16, 2010: Scott Steckly driver of the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge qualified in eighth and was making a last lap pass when he lost two positions and finished the GP3R 100 in sixth place.

After practicing seventh quickest early in the day the team headed back to the garage to make changes to the Canadian Tire Dodge before qualifying.

In qualifying, Steckly posted a time quick enough for the eighth starting position, which isn't quite where they had hoped to start the GP3R, but the team was confident that they had a car that would be in contention for the win on Sunday.

At the drop of the green flag Steckly moved into sixth, a position he would maintain for the first half of the race. With a double file restart just after the halfway point Steckly was able to pick up two positions and move to fourth.

Steckly was still in fourth on the last lap when he attempted a pass for third. JR Fitzpatrick was losing his brakes and pushed up on Steckly but he managed to hang onto the 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge only losing two positions and crossing the finish line in sixth place.

After the race Steckly commented that "We were faster than Fitzpatrick at the end of the race and when I went to pass him we ended up losing two positions. It's not where we wanted to finish, we definitely had a top three car today but we'll take it and head to Mosport next weekend."

Scott Steckly remains in third in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series point standings after seven events.

The GP3R 100 will be broadcast on TSN on Sunday August 22 at 4 pm ET.

Next up for the 22 Racing Team will be the Dickies 200 at Mosport Speedway on Saturday August 21st.
