TROIS RIVIERES, PQ: Dave Jacombs in the Speedy Auto Service/Dynomax Performance Exhaust Taurus notched another fourth place finish on Saturday in the CASCAR 100-km event. The eighth event on the Castrol Super Series circuit was the first appearance on the streets of Trois-Rivieres for the CASCAR late models. By all accounts it was considered a success.

The Speedy Taurus driver went out in the first qualifying session to work on bettering his times from the practice earlier in the day. Jacombs had picked up four seconds from his morning run when the car lost power. Upon returning to the CASCAR paddock area they found the problem to be motor failure so the call went out for the spare motor to come from Ontario. The Speedy Auto Service team spent the early morning on Saturday preparing the Jacombs Racing Taurus for the CASCAR 100 later in the day. Jacombs was forced to stand on his qualifying time from Friday's afternoon session meaning they would line up on the grid in 19th.

The concern was the first lap and all the cars getting through the early turns in single file. Everyone did a great job and moved into a single line and settle down to race. The forty-two lap event would prove to be hard on equipment most especially brakes. The Speedy Auto Service Taurus was strong in the later half of the race, as was the strategy and Jacombs was able to bring the #88 car across the finish line in fourth. A happy Jacombs said after the race. "Road courses are not my forte but we have two fourth place finishes this year on them so maybe things are changing for us. The set up we put under the car proved to be what we needed for the long haul and with no cautions until late in the event it worked for us. Losing our motor in Friday's first qualifying session put us way behind but as usual my team put in a solid effort to get me out for the race in a good car."

With three fourth place finishes and six top tens in the first eight events, the Jacombs Racing/Speedy Auto Service/Dynomax Performance Exhaust Taurus team remains in fourth place in the Chase for the Castrol Cup a mere twelve points out of the top three. Event #9 takes places at their home track, Cayuga Speedway next Saturday August 11th.

The Speedy Auto Service/Dynomax Performance Exhaust Taurus will be on display at Speedy store #214 in Hamilton on Saturday August 11th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
