Team prepares for rescheduled round in NASCAR Series
HAMILTON, ONTARIO (July 4, 2008) -- Although it's been a couple of years since he competed on the St. Eustache oval, Fastline Motorsport's Jim Lapcevich will be as ready as the others for the Kodak 250, the next race in the 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
"I realize it's been two years since we ran at St. Eustache, but it's the same for all the teams," said the 36-year old Jim Lapcevich, the driver of the Tim Hortons Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
"This is a tight little track that can give you grief if you're unfamiliar with it."
The Kodak 250 is to be run July 5 as the fourth event of the series this year. It was originally scheduled to be contested May 31, but was rained out. The track is a paved oval four-tenths of a mile in length, and was opened in 1965.
This event is the first time the NASCAR series has raced at the track, although it was a regular stop for the CASCAR Super Series and is well-known to many in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
While the Fastline effort has struggled so far this year, Lapcevich is confident the team can turn it around this weekend.
"We've been having problems this year," he admitted. "Our set-ups have been off. Hopefully we'll get it together at St. Eustache and get back to a successful season."
The Kodak 250 will take place Saturday, July 5 at Autodrome St. Eustache in Saint-Eustache, Quebec.
