STECKLY TRADES IN SNOW FOR CALIFORNIA SUN & TOYOTA SPEEDWAY AT IRWINDALE; Steckly to Compete in NASCAR Toyota All Star Showdown in California
Milverton, ON, Tuesday December 23, 2008: Scott Steckly had the season in 2008 that most drivers just dream about. He posted four wins, four seconds and one fourth for a total of nine top five finishes in thirteen race events, en route to hoisting the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Championship trophy. Steckly took the points lead at the first race, the Crown Jewel 200 at Cayuga Speedway and never looked back. Because of that dream season, Steckly will now throw his hat in the ring to compete in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Saturday January 24th.
Winners of NASCAR Camping World East and West series events and champions of each of NASCAR's development series earn a guaranteed starting spot in this event, including Steckly as the 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series champion.
Steckly will be driving for NDS Motorsports out of Milton, Vermont, who have prepared winning Camping World East series cars for years with many different drivers. Steckly will sport the logo of NDS Motorsports, along with long time Canadian sponsors Erb Transport and A.W. Millwrights will be represented on the NDS entry as well as Tow Truck in a Box who came on board with 22 Racing this year.
"It really just has been a dream season for us at 22 Racing," said Steckly. "From the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Championship and everything that goes along with that right up to racing in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown next month," he added. "We went to the NDS Motorsports shop to meet everyone earlier this month and I would like to thank them for giving us this opportunity. We are confident we can get them a good finish."
Steckly will arrive in California several days prior to the team, as he is scheduled to attend several promotional events as the 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion.
Friday's schedule (Jan. 23rd) at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale includes two practice sessions and qualifying time trials. Saturday (Jan. 24th) will have an on-track autograph session at 5:15 with the green flag for the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown set to wave at 8:30 p.m. Both days of racing will be televised live on SPEED at 10 p.m. Eastern Time.
