The first event on the schedule for the MOPAR Parts 500 Weekend was today's KUBOTA TRACTORS Pit Stop Competition at Eau Claire Market in downtown Calgary.

Twelve CASCAR Super Series late model stock cars rumbled from the Stampede Grounds through downtown Calgary to the Eau Claire Market. There, the crews competed with each other to change two tires in front of a large crowd of onlookers.

The Avenue West Intrepid crew of Ontario driver Dave Whitlock were the stars of the show, completing their duties in the new record time of 9.45 seconds. In the 15-year history of CASCAR, no team has ever made a stop under ten seconds and to take more than half a second off the old time was a remarkable feat.

Tonight the drivers and crews gather at Schanks Athletic Club on Macleod Trail for a Press Conference and reception.

On Friday, the serious business gets under way. Race City's gates open at 5pm. The teams will qualify at 6pm and at 7pm begin the first of two 100 lap sprint races.

Saturday night is the Last Chance Qualifier for any teams who did not qualify on Friday. Spectator gates open at 6pm. Racing begins at 7pm.

Sunday spectator gates open at 11am and there is an autograph session from 11:15 to Noon. The MOPAR Parts 300 begins at 1pm.
