LONDON, ON - CASCAR and Race City Motorsport Park jointly announced today a new format for the 2004 "MOPAR 500 Weekend" to take place on July 29th, 30th & 31st. In previous years the event has been held over four days with the Pit Stop competition in the heart of Calgary Thursday, time trials and twin 100's on Friday night, a last chance qualifier on Saturday night, and the feature race on Sunday. For 2004 the event will be shortened to three days, with the Pit Stop competition on Thursday at noon (city centre) time trials and twin 100's on Friday, July 30th, and the 300 lap feature race under the lights on Saturday, July 31st.

Race City Motorsport Park is also delighted to confirm that MOPAR will continue its long association with Western Canada's premier race facility, and with its title sponsorship of the CASCAR Super Series event.

"We are delighted to welcome MOPAR back as title sponsor of the annual CASCAR Super Series event at Race City Motorsport Park," said Ray Kuntz, Vice President and Chief Operating officer of Race City Motorsport Park. "The race will take place on a long weekend this year, so we have changed to a two day format so that race fans attending the event will still have an opportunity to travel out of the city if they wish to. It was important for MOPAR, as well as Race City and CASCAR, to maintain a 500 lap format, and we feel that this schedule will be very enjoyable for everyone."

The MOPAR 500 weekend at Race City Motorsport Park is a favorite event amongst many of CASCAR's teams and sponsors. The fast, high-banked half-mile oval provides thrilling racing action, and the city of Calgary has been a fantastic host to many off-track activities enjoyed by everyone in the CASCAR family.

"CASCAR is very excited to return to Race City Motorsport Park in 2004," stated Richard Coughlin, CASCAR director of sales & marketing. "Race City is a fantastic facility, and the fans are always treated to great racing action there. We are proud to have MOPAR return as title sponsor of the event, and we are looking forward to partaking in all the pre-event festivities in addition to the race itself."

The MOPAR 500 Weekend is the largest stock car oval track event in Western Canada, with a huge turnout of fans and a tremendous amount of corporate support each year. VIP chalets and hospitality passes are selling out quickly, so any teams or sponsors are encouraged to reserve space as soon as possible if they wish to be a part of the event. Further information can be obtained by contacting Ray Kuntz at 403-272-7223, ext 102.

The CASCAR Super Series is Canada's top level of stock car racing, with 12 events held in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia. Over 150 race teams across the country compete in CASCAR's three series': the EMCO Western Series, CARQUEST Sportsman Series, and the Super Series.
