Team Fastline set for NASCAR event on Mosport oval
"The key to Mosport is horsepower"
HAMILTON, ONTARIO (August 9, 2007) -- Fresh off a solid top-ten finish at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal recently, Fastline Motorsports team driver Jim Lapcevich hopes to keep the momentum going in this Saturday's Full Throttle Energy Drink 200 at Mosport Speedway.
CASCAR Driving the EMCEA -- Tim Hortons Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Lapcevich started dead last in 31st spot in the Montreal event, and drove a terrific race on the road circuit to place ninth.
He said he is hoping to keep the drive alive on the Mosport half-mile paved oval, where he finished 19th in last year's event.
"Mosport should be a good venue for us, we've raced there many times, it will be good to get back on an oval," said Lapcevich, who is from Hamilton, Ontario.
"The key to Mosport is horsepower, you need to get out front and stay out front, and history has proved that anything can happen in the final laps of this 200-lap, 100-mile race," he added.
Teammate Jeff Lapcevich will not be competing at Mosport.
The Full Throttle Energy Drink 200 presented by Canadian Shield Anticrime Response Corporation at Mosport Speedway is the seventh race in the 12-race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Saturday, August 11.
Gates open at 2:00 p.m., time trials are set for 4:00 p.m., the driver autograph session that will get underway at 5:00 p.m. and the green flag for the Full Throttle Energy Drink 200 presented by Canadian Shield Anticrime Response Corporation drops at 7:00 p.m.
