SEVENTH FOR DILLEY IN DICKIES 200
BOWMANVILLE, ON, Sunday Aug. 22, 2010: Mark Dilley driver of the No. 9 PartSource/Dickies Dodge qualified eleventh and finished the Dickies 200 is seventh place on Saturday night at Mosport Speedway.
Dilley qualified the PartSource/Dickies Dodge in eleventh place. He guided the No. 9 around the half mile oval in a time of 22.256 with an average speed of 80.8 mph. Dilley would start the Dickies 200 on the inside of row six.
At the drop of the green flag Dilley made his way into eighth and was working the cars in front of him to pick up more positions. Dilley had moved up to seventh position when the fourth caution of the night came out and he went to pit road for service. The No.9 Part Source/Dickies Dodge took fuel only and picked up one position to restart the Dickies 200 in sixth.
After the restart Dilley lost a few positions as some of the competitors behind him had taken on fresh tires and were quicker, but on Lap 125 the caution waved again and Dilley made his way to pit road to take tires. The No.9 team had a great pit stop and restarted in eleventh.
With fresh tires Dilley was able to move his way to the front, he passed seven cars and worked his way into fifth position with less than thirty laps to go. Dilley was racing hard to take over the fourth position but late race contact would see Dilley lose two positions and cross the finish line in seventh place.
"We definitely had a top five car" commented Dilley after the race. "But we got shuffled back a few positions right at the end, but we will take a top ten" he added.
Finish 1. Don Thompson Jr. 2. JR Fitzpatrick 3. Kerry Micks 4. Ron Beauchamp Jr. 7. Mark Dilley
Dilley remains in seventh in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Point Standings.
