THORNDYKE HAS STRONG OUTING IN MONTREAL
August 29, 2010. David Thorndyke and the #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com team returned to action in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series during round ten at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, QC this past Sunday. The team once again showed their persistence and strength with another strong finish.
Running a limited schedule of races the #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com Chevrolet has struggled to achieve the quick times necessary for top qualifying results. "That's an area we'd like to improve upon but we know that it's tough running only a few races each year" said Thorndyke. "So what we have to do is make the most out of our time during the race" he added.
Thonrdyke would start the 100km event on Ille Notre Dame from the rear of the field but the action heated up quickly and he was able to improve his position. "I just concentrated on keeping my nose clean" said the driver. "It was a bit like a slalom race with all the action going on" he added.
Thorndyke would do just that as other competitors had difficulty he managed to keep the #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com Chevy moving forward and gaining ground. This track is notoriously hard on equipment and Thorndyke soon found maintaining his braking power was becoming more and more difficult. "I would have liked to have had a little more brake pedal" he stated. "I had to baby the brakes a little bit or we might have been able to leap up even further".
While the action persisted with other racers continuing to have contact with each other and the walls the #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com machine continued its steady climb. "They were bouncing off the walls and each other but other than the brakes our car worked really well today so I just kept looking ahead" he stated.
When the checkered flag waved Thorndyke crossed the line in the #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com Chevrolet in seventeenth position. He would gain a total of sixteen spots during the race. "I'm really proud of this team" he stated. "We really had a tough time at Mosport and that frustrated us but we bounced back really well in the last couple of races that seems a long time ago now. I want to thank my son Adam the Crew Chief and everybody on the team who worked so hard this year and helped us out year. I really appreciate all their effort".
