Miller & Carhartt Racing Continue Top 10 Success in Calgary

Miller drove to second consecutive 7th place finish in MOPAR 500

CALGARY, AB (July 25, 2005) --- Marc Miller and his Carhartt Racing #8 Dodge had roughly four career oval races coming into the MOPAR 500 event at Calgary's Race City Motorsport Park this past weekend. Regardless, Miller drove like a veteran, finishing in 7th place after starting 21st in a large field of CASCAR National & Western Series drivers. This was Miller's second consecutive 7th place after coming off his previous career-best race at the Toronto Molson Indy only a few weeks ago. Miller proved that seat time on the ovals is all he needs to compete at the top level.

"Realistically we were looking for a top-15, maybe top-10 here at Calgary," said Miller. "I had never been here before and the competition is very tough in this series, so I'm very happy with how we did as a team this weekend."

Miller was in the hunt for a top 10 most of the day, but it wasn't until the last 100 laps did he start working lapped traffic and cars in front of him for position.

"This car was so good on long runs," said Miller. "Being that this race was 300 laps, we went into the mindset that we needed to finish and set the car up to handle a long race. We would get jumped on the restarts, but 20 laps into the run I could drive back by."

The Carhartt Racing team will next head to Cayuga Speedway, a half-mile banked oval near Niagara Falls, on August 14.

"I hope we can keep this momentum up," said Miller. "We are running only a partial schedule, but our team is meshing well right now and we seem to be working together better than ever. Usually part-time teams struggle in that situation, but we are really making it happen."
