BARRIE, Ontario (July 1, 2007) -- Mark Dilley used a home-track advantage and turned a lap in 13.969 seconds on the 1/3-mile tri-oval at Barrie Speedway which translates to an average lap speed of 85.819 mph.

Dilley, a Barrie resident and a previous owner of the facility, will lead the field to start the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio event later this evening. He was among the fastest cars in the two earlier practice sessions, as well, in his No. 9 Dodge-sponsored Avenger. It is his first Bud Pole of the season.

D.J. Kennington was second quickest during the Bud Pole qualifying session by navigating the cozy bullring track in 13.983 seconds (85.733 mph). The third fastest time was recorded by Ron Beauchamp Jr. with a time of 14.000 seconds (85.629 mph).

"I probably do have a home-track advantage. I have put in a few laps here," said Dilley of his qualifying effort.

On a night when track position is the key component to success, Dilley will be looking to win for the first time in Barrie since taking the checkered flag in 2005 as part of the former CASCAR Super Series.

"Seriously, the car is pretty good and has been all day," he said. "It is so important to get out front at this track. I'm very happy we turned a good lap and made it stick."
