MOPAR PARTS DODGE FAST AT BARRIE

September 7, 2008. The Mopar Parts Dodge team continued their improved performance over the last few events at round number eleven of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series this past Saturday at Barrie Speedway. Ron Beauchamp Jr. had a car that ran up front and challenged for the lead until a flat tire cost the team a sure top-five finish.

Following the qualifying session which placed the Mopar Parts Dodge seventh on the starting grid for the 300 lap main event Ron Jr. said "the car is pretty good and we feel the race track will come to us as the race goes on". The driver was correct.

Almost immediately after the drop of the green flag Beauchamp was moving forward in the Mopar Parts Dodge Avenger and quickly charged into the top-five. "I had to work a bit to find the racing line that worked best for the car, but as soon as I did the car just came to life" said the driver. Beauchamp would continue to gain positions as the race neared the mid point and their scheduled stop for fuel and tires.

During the pit stop Team Mopar had difficulties changing one of the tires and they were forced to make a second pit stop to correct the problem. The loss of track position would put Beauchamp back in the pack for the restart where trouble is often found. "We had a bit of trouble on the pit stop and that put us near the back of the field and on this track that's often where things happen. I think the #12 car rubbed us and we had the left rear tire go down and that forced us to make a green flag pit stop to change the tire. Otherwise we had a car that would have run up front for the rest of the night" said the driver.

Beauchamp would go several laps down during the green flag stop and finish the race in fourteenth spot, certainly not reflective of the car and teams capabilities as they continued to run fast consistent laps the rest of the night. "It's too bad because we would have been right there" said the driver.

Over the last several races there has been a noticeable leap in performance by the Mopar Parts Dodge team. "It's been great with Chris Couvillion coming back to the team" said Beauchamp. "We connect and have made a few changes and also picked up a little help from some other sources and really have made several big jumps forward. I really like the tracks at the last two races and we'll be up front at both of them".
