STECKLY DELIVERS IN NASCAR CANADA'S PIZZA PIZZA 300

BARRIE, Ontario, Canada (Sept. 8, 2008) -- Scott Steckly grabbed the lead with 54 laps remaining, overcame some late-race restarts and won the Pizza Pizza 300 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race at Barrie Speedway.

The victory increased Steckly's lead over Don Thomson Jr. in the race for the series championship. Thomson finished third at Barrie and is second in the standings. Steckly leads 1,824 to 1,701.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. The bias-ply tires Goodyear manufactures for the Canadian program are also supplied to the NASCAR Camping World Series East and West series. The tire lineup must be hardy enough to work for road racing, short track and speedway applications in both the US and in Canada.

Steckly averaged 44.329 mph over the 300-lap distance and his victory margin was a scant .372 of a second. There were 17 lead changes. Thomson started on the pole after averaging 85.227 mph during time trials.

Kerry Micks finished second followed by Thomson, John Gaunt and Mark Dilley. There were 20 cars in the starting field.
