THOMSON WINS NASCAR CANADA RACE AT BARRIE

BARRIE, Ontario (Sept. 14, 2009) -- Don Thomson Jr. showed the mettle that made him a five-time champion of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series when he won the Torbram Electric 300 at Barrie Speedway.

Thomson led three times in a race that included 16 lead changes among eight drivers. He paced the field a race-best 106 laps before narrowly beating Mark Dilley to the finish line.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, supplying bias-ply tires from the same line the company builds for NASCAR's Camping World Series East and West touring series. The Eagles supplied for the three programs must be effective under a variety of racing conditions. From Barrie's 1/3-mile oval to Speedways and road courses, the Goodyear Eagles are effective.

Thomson edged Dilley by .18 of a second. Scott Steckly, who seemed poised to win the race until a late-race incident, finished third. John Gaunt was fourth and Jason Hathaway finished fifth.

Anthony Simone won the pole with a qualifying lap averaging 83.592 mph.

Andrew Ranger leads the standings with 1,862 points. D.J. Kennington is second with 1,724.
