"This accident is a shame because I got off to a good start and I had a chance to overtake the leaders" said Pedrosa recalling the accident "I was turning on the curve when I was hit on the inside". Randy de Puniet had lost control of his bike and fell onto the Repsol Honda rider, Pedrosa landed on the gravel. The damage on his bike meant that he could not continue.

"There is always the possibility of this type of accident on the first few curves of a race, especially on a narrow circuit like this one" explained the Spaniard. "It is just bad luck that it has happened to me twice this season, because the same happened to me in Turkey".

Anyway, Pedrosa is positive since in spite of this being "a disappointment, we must get over it and continue to fight to get the best position we can in the championship. We hope to have better luck in Portugal".

This incident was also negative for Pedrosa" teammate, Nicky Hayden, who was harmed by de Puniet as well. The World Champion was obliged to go off the track to avoid falling to the ground, although he was able to rejoin the race, although right at the back. "What can I say?
